NYCC2022: Krapopolis Gets Early Second Two Pickup

Other than a few clips at various Comic-Cons, Krapopolis hasn’t had a BUNCH of footage since it’s announcement for pickup which seems like forever ago and we still have to wait until Nov 27th for the first-look and then an additional six months before the show premieres as part of AniDom Mondays starting sometime in May 2023. Having said all that, the Dan Harmon series is already a smash-hit on Blockchain channels via it’s NFT marketplace, so THIS news isn’t all that surprising.

Krapopolis has been ordered for a second season and is right now in the midst of international sales via FOX’s new international sales unit, and the series will be a part of the Hulu pact that was inked earlier this year as well. This comes as the production company for Krapopolis, Bento Box Entertainment, continues to see departments unionize more and more, the most recent being in production roles. This, of course, increases the cost of a series, so the more popular the series can be abroad, syndication, NFT’s, streaming, whatever, the more likely we can get renewals.

Synopsis:

Emmy Award nominee Hannah Waddingham (“Ted Lasso”), Richard Ayoade (“The IT Crowd”), Matt Berry (“What We Do in The Shadows”), Pam Murphy (“Mapleworth Murders”) and Duncan Trussell (“The Midnight Gospel”) have joined the voice cast of KRAPOPOLIS, FOX’s new animated comedy set in mythical ancient Greece, from Emmy Award-winning creator Dan Harmon (“Rick and Morty,” “Community”).

KRAPOPOLIS centers on a flawed family of humans, gods and monsters that tries to run one of the world’s first cities without killing each other.

In the series, Ayoade voices “Tyrannis”, the mortal son of a goddess. He’s the benevolent King of Krapopolis trying to make do in a city that lives up to its name. Waddingham plays “Deliria,” Tyrannis’ mother, goddess of self-destruction and questionable choices. Within her extended Olympian family – forged in patricide and infidelity – she’s known as the trashy one. Berry is “Shlub,” Tyrannis’ father, a mantitaur (half centaur [horse + human], half manticore [lion + human + scorpion]). He is oversexed and underemployed, claims to be an artist and has literally never paid for anything, in any sense of that word, for his entire life. Murphy voices “Stupendous,” Tyrannis’ half-sister, daughter of Deliria and a cyclops. Trussell plays “Hippocampus,” Tyrannis’ half-brother, offspring of Shlub and a mermaid, and, obviously, a hot mess, biologically speaking.
