Notes from Hank Azaria Reddit AMA Part 1

The man of a thousand voices Mr. Hank Azaria was recently featured in a Reddit AMA and during the course of the conversation he offered up various highlights of his awesome career including his stint on Friends (he was almost  Joey!), what he actually thought of Mystery Men (which I was surprised to read since I love that movie), and of course voicing a huge list of characters on The Simpsons like Moe, Frink, Apu, and others. As a matter of fact, Hank actually talked up his method of voicing the number of different characters, and I was surprised to learn that he actually does those voices all in one recording session, versus doing a ‘Moe’ session or an ‘Apu’ session by themselves:

all in one, my friend. sometimes i even talk to myself as 4 different people. occasionally, i will go through the scene one time as moe, and then on another take do it as apu if they are talking to each other. but usually we just let it rip.

He also mentions that he will be voicing an upcoming episode of Family Guy in an as yet named role:

it would be cool to have bruce springsteen do the simpsons. i’m really in to game of thrones right now, i wouldn’t mind jumping in on that insanity. also love american horror story. i love family guy, but i actually just recorded a voice for that show.

All in all, Hank provided for a very fun and entertaining AMA and he would go on an talk about some of his favorite characters on the show, what it was like working with Robin Williams and Nathan Lane on The Birdcage, and creepy fans.
