Netflix Announces Premiere Date For Junji Ito Maniac: Japanese Tales of the Macabre
Toonami’ Junji Ito four-part anime series Uzumaki was originally slated to premiere this month before the producers announced that the release will have to be pushed until an as-yet-announced date so THIS news will have to do for those looking for a Stateside anime adaptation of Junji Ito’s manga. In this case, it’s Junji Ito Maniac: Japanese Tales of the Macabre.
Netflix has announced a January 19th premiere date for its own Junji Ito series coming January 19th, 2023. The series will feature adaptations of more classics like “Ice Cream Truck,” “Tomb Town,” “Library Vision,” and “Headless Statue” which join the already announced Hanging Blimp, Tomie・Photo, Four x Four Walls and Intruder with twenty in total on the way produced by Studio Deen.
This news comes as Netflix has just announced a jostling of it’s adult animation ranks with the likes of Mike Moon leaving. Joining the team is Billy Wee as Director of Adult Animation Comedy Series and Jermaine Turner getting promoted to Director of Adult Animation Action Series. Moreover, Maggie Malone comes from Disney as the VP of Animation Film which is good because maybe she can convince the Academy of Motion Pictures that Apollo 10 1/2 is an animated film that should be considered for an Oscar.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
