Mexican actor who inspired The Simpsons’ Bumblebee Man passes

Matt Groening counts Roberto Gomez Bolanos as a direct inspiration for the ‘BumbleBee Man’ character often found on The Simpsons, more specifically Bolanos’ ‘Red Grasshopper’ character from El Chapulin. 

Evidently, Bolanos died last Friday from heart failure in Cancum and is survived by his wife, actress and producerFlorinda Meza, and six children from a previous marriage.
