James L. Brooks says Mo Obama was almost on “The Simpsons”

Then a year later Ivanka Trump would’ve guest-starred and read the same lines.

Michelle Obama was nearly “Simpsonized” so says show co-creator James L. Brooks when talking to Variety about some move I’m not going to see:

We tried to get her on “The Simpsons” and we couldn’t. We finally got a note that said “good try,” because we were so aggressive.

Personally, I’m a big fan of James’ work outside of The Simpsons, he’s a damn good director. And I gotta tell ya, if Michelle Obama had guest starred it would’ve been a big deal, but I hate the idea that episodes NEED to have a killer guest star in order to be talked about. Why can’t we just get quality TV?

The Simpsons kicks off a new season on September 25th, only on FOX.
