Irish Radio Host Falls For ‘Simpsons’-like Prank

Some jokes never go out of style.

John Creedon of Radio Television Ireland (RTÉ) found this out the hard way when he fell for a classic Simpsons crank call.

On a show over the weekend, Creedon fielded a text from a listener in the town of Drogheda and read it aloud on the air.

The question may have seemed genuine, but the inquirer’s name, Hugh Jass, was clearly a joke. Simpsons fans will likely recall the name from season three’s “Flaming Moe’s” and the wide array of similarly punny names from other prank calls to Moe’s Tavern perpetrated by Bart.

Later realizing his folly, Creedon tweeted out a response afterwards:

At least he had the guts to acknowledge that the gag made him look like a Hugh Jass.
