Indiegogo and Vimeo announce partnership

According to Deadline.com, Indiegogo and Vimeo have joined forces with the video platform becoming the preferred source of Indiegogo’s completed projects. As you know from our Kick List feature, as many animated projects come are way via Kickstarter certainly come our way via Indiegogo with maybe one of the biggest projects being the steam punk-animated film Hullabaloo. That project received nearly a half a million dollars on an $80,000 funding request which is pretty stellar.

What this new deal does, is that any future projects that come from crowd funding on Indiegogo can basically get an automatic distribution outlet. This is one of the biggest fences I see when I come across these type of projects as a lot of them distribute their project directly to the people who donate, but hit a wall when deciding to distribute in other outlets. Some have told me that they plan to go the Netflix/Hulu route while others go the iTunes route on the back of indie film festivals. Indiegogo providing a Vimeo route answers some of those worries though it’s still up to the producers to market the hell out of their project. Unfortunately, projects like Hullabaloo are largely ignored from television and traditional film routes, which leads us to avenues like this that certainly can be fruitful if managed correctly.

You guys got any Indiegogo projects we should be keeping an eye on? Let us know in the comments below.
