HBO MAX Removes Final Space ; Other Adult Swim Animated Series Purged As Well

HBO MAX has officially removed Final Space from it’s lineup which continues a slow purge of animated series from Adult Swim-related pages including JJ Villard’s Fairy Tales and Dream Corp LLC (still on Hulu) being taken off of the brand’s website.

The moves come as WB Discovery continues it’s merge which is having all sorts of issues with the back-end new media deals which has already changed numerous hands in the last couple of years which isn’t helping anyone.

No new seasons of Final Space are under construction, but show creator Olan Rogers has launched a Kickstarter for a new franchise he hopes to get off of the ground of which you can learn more about here.

Final Space has had a rocky number of years as any. Originally ordered by Kevin Reilly in his vow to have more adult animation produced for TBS, Final Space was ordered with the likes of Close Enough, The COPS, and Tarantula. Well, The Cops was canceled as a result of Louis CK’s sexual misconduct allegations, Tarantula was buried on a TBS network that had already stopped caring, leaving Close Enough and Final Space as the only two series that got renewals. Earlier this year, Final Space was announced for cancellation, leaving just Close Enough as the only original series from that era to have additional seasons in production on the way for HBO MAX.

It doesn’t stop there, Final Space’s first season premiered on TBS, second season on Adult Swim, and third season, buried just before Toonami on Saturday nights. Creator Olan Rogers teased the possibility of a feature-length movie of the franchise to help cap off the series, but was passed on and since then the Adult Swim network has been teasing it’s fandom about the show’s cancellation during the bumps much in the same way they did when Metalocalypse was canceled.
