GUSTAVO ARELLANO Tweets from ‘Bordertown’…talks Ernesto Gonzales

For starters, yea Gustavo Arellano and Lalo Alcaraz are now part of the Bordertown writing team, though it sounds like Gustavo’s role is more of a consultant. You can read more about Lalo here, but for those that don’t know Gustavo Arellano is a weekly columnist at OC Weekly where he manages his  ¡Ask a Mexican! column and has done so for about ten years.

Gustavo has been a pretty rad source for Bordertown info, as just the other day he tweeted a pic of one of the lead characters from the upcoming FOX animated series, that being Ernesto Gonzales. For those that don’t recall, when Bordertown was announced to series, a press release at FOX gave us a little bit of info on what to expect from the lead character:

Ernesto, is an industrious Mexican immigrant and father of four, who is proud to be making it in America.

Here is the aforementioned tweet, which offers us just a tad more in terms of Ernesto’s personality:

That’s not all! Recently, Gustavo wrote a rather fabulous article about how he started working on the Bordertown series and I think my favorite part of the piece is when he was talking about how proud he was of the Mexican-American influence on Hollywood and how this is only going to legitimize the Bordertown series which should make it stick around for quite a while stating:

Bordertown marks a coming-of-age-in-Hollywood moment for Latinos, especially for immigrants, Mexican-Americans and Chicanos, (and Zacatecan-Americans) because of the casting, the themes and the writing behind this groundbreaking show.

Bordertown is said to be starting this Fall on FOX, keep checking back here for news and leaks as we get them.
