FunimationNow Heads To UK/IRE After Deal With Manga Entertainment

And what this means for Crunchyroll.

Funimation has announced the acquisition of Manga Entertainment UK. This means that English dub titles previously made available in the United States will soon be made available in the UK/Ireland via FunimationNow as well as various home releases.

Manga Entertainment titles now available on FunimationNow include “Sword Art Online Season 1,” “Akira,” “A Certain Magical Index Movie,” “A Certain Magical Index Season 1,” “A Certain Magical Index Season 2,” “A Certain Scientific Railgun Season 1,” “A Certain Scientific Railgun Season 2,” “Summer Wars,” “Wolf Children,” “Samurai Warriors Season 1,” “Soul Eater NOT!,” “The Girl Who Leapt Through Time,” “Bayonetta (The Movie): Bloody Fate,” “Casshern Sins,” and “Ghost in the Shell: Innocence.”

Our Take

Funimation and Crunchyroll are continuing their battles overseas. More English dubs will have to be had by both sides, however, with Crunchyroll it’s a tad stickier of a situation because usually when they distribute content it’s in subtitled format. They are slowly, but surely, turning that around this year but they are going to have to cover a bunch of ground.
