FOX wants to continue to mix up live-action with cartoons on Sundays, but could Tuesday still be open?

I gotta say, the best TCA recapping I’ve seen so far as come from Deadline. Everyone else kinda just picks up quotes and whatnot, but Deadline does a bunch of the recaps. In any case, they picked up a sense during the FOX panel that Brooklyn 99 will continue to be the sore thumb on Sunday Nights as it is sandwiched between The Simpsons and Family Guy which stinks because that means we shouldn’t expect any new animated shows to premier on Sunday nights anytime soon.

Bob’s Burgers was picked up for another season recently, but as of now, FOX is making NO mention on Bento Box’s other animated series, Bordertown which is supposed to premier sometime this Spring. When and what time? It wasn’t announced, but I think I’ve mentioned this once before, I wouldn’t be surprised to see that series kick off late Spring and run all Summer long. I personally think, that would be awesome because it would give us some new cartoons to watch on Sunday Nights as opposed to all of the reruns. Maybe if THAT does well, we could see some additional animated series’ get the pick up to surround Bordertown with that could give FOX a mess of new originals on Sunday Nights during the summer. That could also be a great spot for Murder Police in my opinion since that show has already finished production on the first season and has yet to see an air date.

The other major point to come from the TCA panel, is that FOX really wants another hour of comedy on Tuesday Nights to go along with Mindy Project and New Girl. We wrote last year, that FOX could look into the possibility of picking up an animated series or two to help out, specifically Zooey Deschanel’s Queen of Everything. The show could be serviceable in a number of ways as from the sounds of it. For starters, it’s geared more towards a female audience unlike the Sunday Night fare like Family Guy, and the show is executive produced by Deschanel whom is already the star of New Girl. It would behoove FOX not to air those shows opposite each other and take advantage of a popular name. Finally, whenever Family Guy reruns get put on Tuesday Nights, which we’ve seen several times last year, the show has always performed well. So, why not pick up Queen of Everything, or any other animated series to see what would happen?
