First look: FXX’s newest order is ‘Chozen’; Delayed but probably teamed with ‘Archer’
The series premiers this fall on FXX and we finally get a screenshot of the new series coming from Danny McBride and Rough Pics.
We’ve been talking about this show for a while now and we FINALLY have a first pic for the new FXX animated series Chozen which will now air Q1 2014. This tells me Archer should definitely be going to FXX because why the fuck else would they wait that long to premier a new animated series? Of course, its to do a similar setup like they had with Unsupervised (although it kinda didn’t work) which is just fine with me cuz this show looks AWESOME.
That said, the show has an updated lead character being played by Grant Dekernion of whom is also writing the show. We have known for a while now that the premise of the show surrounds a recently released white rapper, but now we have a new twist. The lead character is gay. Yep. According to a press release:
Dekernion will also voice the lead character in the comedy, about a gay white rapper fresh out of prison with a new message and new skills, which he will use in his quest for redemption and domination. Dekernion will also be writing and rapping the songs for the series, which he is executive producing with McBride, Hill, Green as well as Adam Reed and Matt Thompson of Floyd County Prods. (Archer) for FX Prods. “Chozen is an outrageous and ballsy comedy, but it’s also a very smart examination of the rap culture,” said Nick Grad, President, Original Programming, FX Networks and FX Prods.
Not only are Dekernion and McBride voicing characters, but look at this list: Bobby Moynihan (Saturday Night Live), Hannibal Buress (Totally Biased with W. Kamau Bell), Michael Pena (Gangster Squad), Nick Swardson (Parks and Recreation)[!!], Kathryn Hahn (Anchorman) [!!!], and Method Man (The Sitter). This show sounds STACKED and it could really be a hit if done right. Floyd County Prods is handling the back end which is a bit different than what Rough Draft did when they had Good Vibes on MTV, but that was to be expected.
Yep, animated comedy is sounding pretty awesome on FXX as it wasn’t too long ago that McBride’s fellow This Is the End co-star Seth Rogen was announced to be bringing Bigfoot. And even the It’s Always Sunny guys are starting to get in the fold again. But, wouldn’t it be nice if Unsupervised got ONE more try on the new network?

"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
