EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW: PHIL LAMARR AKA “HERMES” FROM FUTURAMA

I always hated the mainstream popular shit. I grew up 45 min from NYC and I would say a majority of my friends were fans of Saturday Night Live. Other than the Will Ferrell years, I really thought that show was so overrated as they often guest starred celebrities I didn’t care for and had musical guests that always sucked ass. Enter 1995, I am introduced to a program that became the spritual successor to In Living Color but for some reason I loved it 100 times more. It had violence, flirted with sex, and instead of guest starring celebrities, noone had done a better job of shitting on them than MadTV. I was hooked from the premier all the way to the sendoff. Not a lot of people from Mad TV do you really hear about anymore with notable exceptions like Alex Borstein, Will Sasso, and Artie Lange. Phil LaMarr certainly is someone who has had great success in his career following MadTV after he had left in 2000, having been a premier player in the voice business for decades. No show exhibits Phil LaMarr’s talents more than in his role as the lovable Planet Express accountant Hermes Conrad who can be seen in brand new episodes of Futurama starting this Wednesday night on Comedy Central. Recently, we had a chance to talk with Phil about voicing Hermes and what he thinks makes the show so addicting after all these years.

EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW: MICHAEL GRANBERRY CREATOR OF ‘ZOMBIES VS NINJAS’

It happens all the time in this industry. People work with popular animated series like The Simpsons or Family Guy for a while then they want to go off and do their own thing BUT maybe they are inspired their predecessors. It’s only natural, right? Daria was totally inspired by Beavis and Butthead, Futurama totally has strokes of The Simpsons, and with the relatively new Shut Up Cartoons topping the charts, it’s no secret that people who love Robot Chicken noticed the obvious DNA strands in Zombies vs Ninjas. After the jump we talk to Michael Granberry someone who very well could be the NEXT mad scientist in stop-mo.

EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW: DANNY AND ALESSANDRO WITH @SAVECLONEHIGH

MTV has a long and storied past of cancelling some of our most beloved shows. Beavis and Butthead(probably twice), Good Vibes, Daria, Celebrity Deathmatch, and Clone High. You name it, and MTV probably cancelled it. So that’s why when I saw Bill Lawrence(Scrubs, Cougar Town, Clone High) retweet a post a couple weeks ago from a Twitter Handle called @SaveCloneHigh, I had to talk to the guys behind it and see about their cause to bring back the show. For those who don’t know Clone High is a show about some of the world’s best known but very dead figures being cloned by the government with the intent of becoming groomed super soldiers by the US military!

The show was pretty bad ass and had a stellar cast featuring MadTV alums Michael McDonald and Nicole Sullivan and my personal favorite the fabulous Will Forte(Macgruber) as Abe Lincoln and was created by Phil Lord, Chris Miller, and Bill Lawrence. Check out the interview after the jump, and if you get all nostalgic you can get Clone High: Complete 1st Season on DVD.

EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW: Romany Malco aka “Darius” from Unsupervised

After talking with guys like Romany Malco and David Hornsby the least few weeks about their new hit show Unsupervised, I’ve come to learn one thing, they are extremely proud of what they’ve accomplished with this show, a prime time animated series that is hysterical without going too extreme and usually finishing up an episode with what has become a lost art in a lot of television shows lately(not just animated) and that’s having a morale to the story. After the jump see what Romany Malco thinks about his new gig voicing the character “Darius” in Unsupervised which currently airs Thursday Nights 10:30pm EST only on FX.
