EXCLUSIVE: AQUA TEEN CREATOR DROPS OUT OF UNNAMED @FXNETWORKS ANIMATED SERIES

I had a chance to interview Matt Maiellaro creator of Aqua Teen about the new season and such of which I will post later on this week. This little tidbit was interesting and deserved its own post as I asked Matt about the announcement from a few months back concerning him working on a new animated series with Eastbound & Down star Danny McBride. Here is an excerpt from the article we ran:

FX is working with Aqua Teen creator Matt Maiellaro and Grant Dekernion on an untitled new series about a guy who was recently released from prison and that Danny McBride(Good Vibes) is being cast to lend his voice to the lead role.  The project itself is coming from Rough House which features not only Danny McBride but David Gordon Green.

Story Continues After the jump:

Welp, turns out Matt Maiellaro has dropped off of the proposed project, in our exclusive interview Matt had this to say about it:

Well you know what. That project, I dropped off that project. I didn’t feel like the tone was on brand for me, so we sold it back in October and I recently made an exit from it, but I wish it success. I hope that it does well because I know Rough House was looking to do another animated show. (Ed. note, Rough House was behind the cancelled MTV animated series Good Vibes which also had Danny McBride featured as part of the cast.)

Yea, Matt dropped out but FX has had a great success with animated series like Unsupervised and Archer so if the show does go along as planned, I do believe the show is in good hands.
