English Dub Review: Welcome to Demon School! Iruma-kun “The Iruma I Know;Toto the Genie”
Overview
“The Iruma I Know”
Day 2 of the Harvest Festival, and the Iruma and Lead team were still at zero points, so they decide to try to get the Legendary Leaf to turn things around. With that in mind, they go visit Camui. Once they find him, they also encounter a horde of magical beasts and a little kingdom that had been established. The two are captured and suddenly brought in front of the queen of the kingdom, which just so happened to be Keroli?! Meanwhile, Ameri was thinking back about her time at the Harvest Festival, as she was watching Iruma’s performance from the broadcast tent.
“Toto the Genie”
Ameri happens to run into Jazz and Schneider in the tent for all of the students who have forfeited. They ran into a plot to get rid of all of the students of the Misfit Class from this competition. Around the same time, Iruma and Lead had begun looking for the Legend Leaf by using the lyrics to the Legend Leaf song as a clue. Iruma goes through the jungle, following what the lyrics said, and finds an entrance to an underground labyrinth. Deep within the labyrinth filled with traps and tricks, he encounters…
Our Take
Day 1 of the Harvest Festival is over, and the tag team of Asmodeus and Sabnock won over the Dorodoro Brothers’ accumulated points to top the chart. But still, the brothers, still dealing with the case of the mistaken identity of their teachers, demand a rematch, where Day 2 has just harkened. oo bad for both Iruma and Lead, they’ve been misled to eat all of their points away, and the only thing that can save them: is the 100k-point Legend Leaf, which has been a mystery of myth…
As for the other episode, Iruma and Lead split their ways to find the aforementioned dungeon where the Legend Leaf resides, and Iruma’s making good progress, albeit with one extra character: the silent Naphula being trapped and stuck on weeds. Taking every trap into consideration and threading the route closely, the Seed of Beginnings is ready for the taking, except that it had a guardian protecting it: Toto the Genie. There are 2 ways of taking the Seed: by force or telling it something interesting to impress. It’s valuable info that isn’t easy to obtain, and Naphula gives it a go, only to see the same fate…
Both episodes worked as a 2-parter of sorts as it’s about time that Iruma gets another chance to shine this season. He has been sort of underwhelming in this whole festival competition but now making a return. This arc has been advancing at a snail’s pace so far. I’m glad we finally got SOME advancement with the leaf and vase plot-points, but it’s just felt like a long-ass filler arc so far. The thing is, the Legend Leaf isn’t at all a myth and can be done. Though the twist on how Iruma does it is weirdly entertaining.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
