English Dub Review: Warlords of Sigrdrifa “Reattacking Fuji Pillar!”

Overview (Spoilers Below):

Claudia has a dream with Odin in it, however before she can guess what it means she wakes up. The girls prepare to head out and reassure one another that they’ll defeat Odin and the Pillars. Claudia recalls the dream from earlier and talks with Odin. He offers her one last chance to join him, but she refuses. The girls of Tateyama base fly off to their assigned spot to wait for the signal to deploy. They discuss a bit on the progress of the battle and being impatient to dive into the battle.

The final battle against humanity and Odin progresses smoothly with humanity covering everything from the secondary Pillars to Thor’s attack. Then the girls deploy from their position and they take down the secondary Pillars in the Fuji Pillar. Odin makes his arrival on the battlefield after Thor’s attack misses the base for humanity.

Our Take:

This week’s episode is good, but lacking in tension for the final battle. On the bright side, the girls reassuring one another was cute. Admittedly Claudia’s dream about Odin in the grassy plains with the large tree was interesting. Their little conversation just reinforces how Odin is a crooked god at this point. The mention of einherjar’s, the soldiers who died while in battle was a nice touch to Odin’s motives for the battle.

For the final battle humanity’s preparations worked out smoothly. They relocated the base of operations and coordinated a global attack on the Pillars. The Tateyama girls as the trump card is a bit unexpected considering the fact that they have fewer Valkyries this time. At any rate, the girls show off their teamwork and banter a bit before Thor strikes with his hammer again.

In comparison to their preparations, Odin just seems to be using the same pattern from the last time the Fuji Pillar just with a few minor changes. Take for example the fallen Valkyries and their late appearance on the battlefield. It sadly doesn’t make for an interesting battle on his part. For a god that wanted another battle enough to reveal his role in the whole mess, it was just disappointing to watch. If it’s any consultation the aerial combat animations were decent.

Overall the episode is a chill episode in both the preparation for the battle and during the battle. Hopefully, the last episode will end the battle with a more satisfying bang.
