English Dub Review: Trapped in a Dating Sim: The World of Otome Games is Tough for Mobs “What I Can Do Now”

Overview (Spoilers Ahead):

Leon leads the other nobles into battle and rescues Angie. They also kidnap Princess Hertrude, but the battle rages on. Both Livia and Angie unleash new powers and both of their lives are in peril.

Our Take:

The battle against the principality begins and the nobles are actually holding their own against the enemy. Livia even casts a new spell, which destroys plenty of monsters and protects the ship. Leon infiltrates the enemy’s mothership and kidnaps Princess Hertrude. He returns to their ship with her and Angie.

The princess missing doesn’t stop the attack though, so the battle continues. During the chaos, Angie also casts a new spell, which takes out a lot of monsters. She also reconciles with Livia and tells her how important she is to her.

Immediately after that, Angie almost falls off the ship until Livia grabs onto her. Angie tells her to let her go, but Livia refuses. Instead, she throws Angie back onto the ship and falls off in the process.

Not to worry because Leon comes to her rescue. He calls her “Miss Olivia” again and Olivia insists that she calls her “Livia.” She’s tired of him acting like they’re not friends anymore. He tells her she should be with someone better, but Livia tells Leon that she loves him. Leon doesn’t really know how to respond to that, but he does go back to calling her “Livia.”

Once he brings Livia back to safety, Leon heads off into battle once again. It’s then revealed that the principality’s trump card is none other than the Black Knight.

This is a very eventful episode and it looks like the show’s setting up for an intense climactic battle. It was nice seeing the nobles actually being useful for a change and the Black Knight reveal was interesting as well.

naturally, the best part part of the episode for me was seeing the trio reconcile. I wasn’t surprised that Livia confessed her love to Leon, but I still thought it was a nice moment. We didn’t get a huge moment of reconciliation between the whole group, but the moments we got between each pairing were still great.

With only one episode to go, I’m curious to see how the series will conclude. It would be nice if all of the loose ends are tied up, but we’ll just have to wait and see.
