Overview (Spoilers Below):

Haru and Daisuke track down Shigemaru to the laboratory and after a search, they find a confidential document and a hidden passage. They follow the man to the Kambe mansion. Daisuke points out that the man they’ve been chasing has none other than been the Kambe family butler, and the real mastermind behind this is Daisuke’s grandmother. Daisuke gets the truth from his grandmother, and Haru goes after the injured butler. Haru manages to knock him out and arrest him but gets shot in the leg in the process. Haru goes over to Suzue who’s decrypting the confidential lush that Daisuke sent her.

Meanwhile, Daisuke learns that his grandmother murdered his mother and that his father is still alive after trying to follow his wife. She says that the world isn’t ready for adollium and that the only person who can lead it is him. However, Daisuke decides to release the information on adollium, and after Haru triggers the button to send out the information. Daisuke places his grandmother under arrest as Suzue gives Haru Daisuke’s thanks. Two weeks later, the Second Division is using HEUSC for their own hobbies. On the other hand, Daisuke and Haru are in England tracking down sellers and buyers of adollium.

Our Take:

This final episode of Millionaire Detective was a decent conclusion to the series. That final twist on the butler and Daisuke’s grandmother being the main culprit to this whole fiasco was good. I did enjoy the mood her eyes set whenever they changed color as it showed her more coldblooded side. Admittedly I wished the anime could have given her a little more screen time to at least hint that her merciless nature before setting her up as the real antagonist.

Daisuke choosing to arrest his grandmother rather than try and bury the incident as the heir worked well. It shows how different he is from her because of his duty as a detective. The montage of the chaos that could erupt from his decision to release the adollium to the public worked well to highlight the consequences. Daisuke’s perspective on the world after his childhood was typical, but how he found his purpose while looking through the details of his mother’s case and went on to pursue it. Even though he uses his money extravagantly, Daisuke still uses it for the greater good. Then when he continued to work with Haru on adollium sellers and buyers, that ending was good to show that while he’s a detective rather than a guy with a lot of money lazying around.

Furthermore, Haru’s fight with the butler was good. It was a short fight considering how injured they both were, but a decent end to catching the killer. In addition, his accidental action which triggered the button to send the adollium research everywhere was good. Daisuke even conveying his thanks through Suzue was a bit of a surprise. The fact that he refused the offer to the First Division and continued his work as a detective with Daisuke in England worked well to display how he’s regained his drive as a hero.

The fact that the members of the second division are just using HEUSC so nonchalant like that was hilarious. The ending scene with Haru and Daisuke was a good show of their partnership now. Haru using the tech to stop the car and Daisuke’s flashy entrance was pretty fun to watch especially with the title drop from the seller and buyer. Now Haru hanging on the bridge while Daisuke stands over him was a good callback to how they first met. It shows how Daisuke’s changed, but at that same time retains his smug attitude.

Overall the show was a ride with a few unexpected twists and a lot of money from Daisuke.
