English Dub Review: The Maid I Hired Recently Is Mysterious “The Girl With the Purple Eyes”

Overview (Spoilers Below):
Lilith approaches Fujisaki for advice on how to get Yuuri to open up to her more.

Our Take:
If you want to learn how to be a trustful maid, the best person to go to for advice is another maid. That’s what Lilith’s doing in this week’s episode, as she hopes to have Yuuri feel safer when she’s around him. The episode sees Lilith meeting up with Fujisaki at a cafe during her day off, although Yuuri thought she was going on a date with someone. Hoping to figure out how to win Yuuri’s trust, Lilith is advised by Fujisaki to open her heart to him so that Yuuri will do the same to her.
What made this sequence interesting is how it further explores Fujisaki’s background and her connection with Lilith. When she and Lilith are at the academy together, Fujisaki isn’t always the calm and bright maid she is now, as she was originally a delinquent who causes trouble. However, she immediately changed her personality for the better after graduation, possibly due to her meeting Tsukasa. I can only say that it was nice to see these two maids catch up and reminisce about their days at the academy.
But, of course, the episode isn’t without another intriguing piece of development from Yuuri. Yuuri dreamt of giving a flower ring to a mysterious young girl at the beginning of the episode. However, it was more of a memory than another fantasy dream. That girl was brought home by Yuuri’s parents when he was young, although it’s not clear where she came from. It turns out that the girl is actually the young Lilith with the same purple hair and the same purple eyes. Additionally, Yuuri finally realizes that his suspicion towards Lilith is due to him falling in love with her.
These exciting turn of events not only strengthens the bond between Yuuri and Lilith but also provides a surprisingly good amount of heart to these moments. The ending with Yuuri confessing his love to Lilith served as a good example regarding its animation and Macy Anne Johnson’s tender-hearted performance. Regardless of how I still feel about its questionable concept, the episode offers a decent turning point where Yuuri finally puts his heart and trust in the maid’s hands. Unfortunately for them, a specific maid plots to end that relationship for good.
