English Dub Review: The Maid I Hired Recently Is Mysterious “My Precious…”

Lilith helps Yuuri prepare for the upcoming sports day events.

Our Take:
There’s nothing like a perfect day of sports to keep us distracted from the “suspiciousness” of the new maid…or so we thought. This week’s episode shows that not even the competitive activities are enough to keep Yuuri away from Lilith’s “mysterious” nature. However, it looks like the maid isn’t the only person who’s oddly suspicious.
The episode sees the return of Yuuri’s classmate, Tsukasa, who’s convinced that Yuuri and Lilith are in a “forbidden relationship”. She continues to spy on the two, even after school gets finished. Luckily, Fujisaki is around to keep her under control. Unfortunately, that’s not enough to keep her imagination from running wild, especially when she thinks Lilith’s “reward” for Yuuri is sexual. That girl needs a break from reading those romance novels.
Aside from that, “My Precious…” is a surprisingly fun episode that sees Yuuri and Lilith preparing and participating in the school’s sports festival. The humor also marks a slight improvement despite a few questionable moments, with Yuuri’s practice being interrupted by the aggressive cat from the second episode being the highlight. That darn cat blocked Yuuri’s shots and knocked him down when he was inches away from the finish line. Who knew a cat like that could hold a grudge?
But, of course, it isn’t without a heartfelt moment between Yuuri and Lilith in its conclusion, which continues to develop their “relationship” further. After Lilith wins the parents’ obstacle race, Yuuri’s classmates complain that a maid doesn’t count as a parent, resulting in Yuuri defending her, stating that she’s his family. Seeing that Lilith is the only one he’s got after his parents died, I thought this scene was well-earned regarding his development, more so than the previous episodes. Unfortunately for Lilith, we still got a long way to go for Yuuri to put his complete trust in her mysterious maid.
