English Dub Review: The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel – Northern War “The Truth Coated in Lead”

Our Take:

Another week another batch of recasts, this time it’s Sara Valestein and Elliot Craig that I’m sure of with a potential few others. It’s starting to get almost embarrassing with how confident they were that they would have all the VAs onboard. Why announce something if you can’t follow through on it, maybe don’t make a huge announcement. I expect that of smaller companies but Crunchyroll is a massive company so it’s frustrating.

As for the show itself it’s bringing in more and more pieces from the games which could be good or bad. I think that story is a lot stronger and will benefit, but newbies will be seriously lost. Though I have to say that I started with the Cold Steel arc and there were some parts that I was lost on but it ultimately led me to play the whole series so if this can bring more people in then that would be awesome.

Having said that, I have been pretty bored so far, it seems way more convoluted than it needs to be. There is a war going on and I really wish we would focus more on that because it is one of the few parts of this world with un-tread ground. The cast of characters is usually a Trails staple and its biggest strong-point but I am just not feeling it so far.
