English Dub Review: The Great Jahy Will Not Be Defeated! “The Magical Girl Will Not Lose”

Overview:

The great Jahy is on the trail of the Magical Girl, Shinguu Kyouko. Kyouko is befallen by misfortune after misfortune, but she’s frighteningly tough. The Magical Girl turns out to be a nice girl who hopes that everybody else can be happy if she just takes on all the misfortune. Hearing that gives the great Jahy mixed feelings. The only one to comfort and cheer up Jahy from feeling useless is Kokoro.

Our Take:

Jahy was feeling a bit jealous after Kokoro was singing the praises of the Magical Girl (and I mean who wouldn’t?) and decided to show her, her true form. Jahy went so far out of her way to impress her that she had to call into work because she had used up all her power. I really think that Jahy and Kokoro’s relationship is really sweet.

One relationship that could see an interesting dynamic change in the future could be between Jahy and Magical Girl. If a human holds on to a mana crystal they experience great misfortune. So Jahy couldn’t wait to see the misfortune befall her but then started to believe she might just be a masochist. Ultimately, Magical Girl knows about the misfortune it brings on her and just wants to do what she can to remove that misfortune from everyone else. This gave Jahy a more in-depth look into Magical Girl and I hope we get to see more of them together soon.
