English Dub Review: The Aristocrat’s Otherworldly Adventure: Serving Gods Who Go Too Far “I Reincarnated”
Overview:
Shiinya Kazuya dies while saving two girls from a man with a knife. He then gets reincarnated into a magical world as an aristocrat’s son.
Our Take:
This show starts out like a lot of other isekai…at a convenient store. That and the fact that the main character dies while attempting to save someone. It seemed like this premise was going to be different here because it didn’t look like the main character died in vain. Unfortunately, it turns out that everything would have been fine even if he didn’t get involved. I still think the main character risking his life for others is admirable, but I wish this show could have steered clear of that tired old trope.
Shiinya Kazuya gets reincarnated as the third son of an aristocrat: Cain von Silford. We learn about his family and about the world early on. We learn how magic works and all of the other nuances this world has to offer. I’m glad the show doesn’t waste a lot of time getting to the point.
We also learn that the main character is overpowered. I’m not surprised, but I’m tired of that trope as well. He can cast spells at age three. He might not be good at it, but he shouldn’t be able to do it at all according to this world’s ways.
I’m not a big fain of Cain himself so far. Aside from the overpowered trope, he doesn’t have much going for him. He just feels like a bland protagonist with a kind heart. I’m also not a fan of his voice when he’s three years old. The baby talk gets irritating after a while. It wouldn’t be so bad if he only spoke that way out loud. Unfortunately, he also sounds like that in his internal monologues. On the bright side, that goes away when he turns five later on in the episode.
I’m not attached to any of the other characters right off the bat either. I already don’t like Cain’s sister Reine. It seems like she may have a sibling complex going on and I’m not a fan of that. The family’s maid, Silvia, is the most entertaining character to me upon first glance. I wouldn’t mind seeing more of her.
Overall, I’m not too impressed with this first episode. I see potential, but the characters and world need to be fleshed out a lot more. I would also love to see it stray from the typical isekai tropes a bit, but only time will tell.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
