English Dub Review: STAR BLAZERS: Space Battleship Yamato 2202 “The Shocking White Comet Empire-The Yamato Rams Through”

What year is it?

Overview (Spoilers Below)

The spy makes her presence known and attempts to escape but is killed in the process. That said, she wasn’t killed by anyone on board, and we learn more about her past and how it relates to the Gatlantians. Speaking of which, the Yamato comes eerily close to the Gatlantian army but is able to escape without harm despite being in a gravitational pull for quite a bit. By the end of the episode, we get a new mission.

Our Take

The penultimate episode becomes the 2202 season’s most ambitious yet. Fun arcs play out, and the attention to detail to the animation production was certainly on point this episode, showcasing shadowing techniques and high-level dramatic flair that showcases the artistry of this series in a different way than the normal high-octane space battles we are used to. Now we have a bit more of a plot to hold on to until the finale as well, but the subplots are enough fun that you can’t help but feel you’re getting your money’s worth as well.
