This week’s episode is a deep dive into who the hell the bad guys are and why they wanna take us out. We learn that Gatlantis is a kid with problems and this reaffirms what and why his mission is what it is.
Our Take
The producers of Star Blazers: Space Battleship Yamato 2202 have a lot of balls trying to give us filler episodes during an arc that’s only four or five episodes long. I get it, Dragon Ball, One Piece, etc, those get bunches of filler episodes because they have 40 episode arcs during the course of 120 episode seasons. This Star Blazers arc is done probably by sometime in April. As cool as the flashback scenes being shot in black and white are, this episode should’ve aired a LOT earlier in the show’s pantheon.
