English Dub Review: SSSS. Dynazenon “Which Memories Do You Regret?”

Overview:

New Kaiju makes everyone disappear but leaves behind a shadow. Everyone goes to a moment in their past and it’s up to Yomogi to save the day. Yume finds out her sister didn’t commit suicide, and Koyomi got to see if things might have gone differently with Inamoto. The moment Gauma betrayed the Kaiju Eugenicists was shown and Gridknight saw his past as a kaiju. There are still a lot of questions left unanswered but Yomogi showed that he can be a true hero.

Our Take:

That is what I’m talking about Yomogi! This has been some really good character development from where he started. To be honest the main three have shown a lot of growth. Chise got a bit last week and Koyomi has got a bit himself but I would still like a bit more, especially from the core members.

Yomogi got caught up in his own dream world but I guess he decided to change his name to Chad because he just broke right out like it was nothing. He then went straight to rescue Yume, once reunited he gave her time to handle things on her own. I really love Yomogi, especially after this episode it’s clear he’s become the heart of the team. He even technically rescued Gridknight but he would tell you he didn’t need help so take that how you will.

I need to chill on Yomogi I think… seriously I could gush about him for the rest of the review. Yume finally got closure about her sister… kind of? At the very least she knows that she didn’t commit suicide but what happened then? I really hope we get answers on this. Another thing I want answers on is Koyomi’s past with Inamoto. That moment where she brings in the bag of money must be a pretty big moment in his life to keep reflecting on it. It didn’t seem like he got the same amount of closure from his experience as Yume did. Yomogi more or less had to be like “Bro c’mon we got a monster to fight”. Hope we get more of him as well.

Once everyone was out it was time to fight. Everyone combined and the fight lasted like thirty seconds, and I don’t mean that in a bad way. I liked how this episode was more of a “mental” fight than anything. When they broke out of the kaiju and the music swelled was like anime awesomeness 101. They didn’t show what happened to the Kaiju Eugenicists afterward but I’m sure they’re alright.
