English Dub Review: SSSS. Dynazenon “What Are These Overlapping Emotions?”

Overview:

Chise might have a dark past. She befriends a kaiju that becomes a part of team Dynazenon. Yume and Yomogi meet with her sister’s ex-boyfriend. He says that Kana wasn’t the type to kill herself. Yomogi is there for Yume when she needs it. During battle Dynazenon, Gridknight, and Goldburn (the name Chise gives the kaiju) combine into an awesome form.

Our Take:

Chise finally got some time in the spotlight and with the introduction of her kaiju friend Goldburn, she might be relevant in battles too. Her relationship with Goldburn is kind of similar to how Pokemon works so far. It creates an interesting dynamic I hope gets explored more. Apparently, Chise has some sort of tattoo and that’s why she constantly wears an arm sleeve. There are only a few episodes left so I hope everyone gets the development they deserve.

Speaking of development, Yume and Yomogi need to get together already. It’s so clear that they have feelings for each other but nothing has happened. In this episode there was a lot of romantic teasing, Gauma tells Yomogi that he’s the only one that can tell when something is wrong with Yume. If that isn’t romance bait I don’t know what is.

The fight scene in this episode was super hyped. Gridknight, Dynazenon, and Goldburn all combined and I was reminded of the awesome shows of my childhood. Everything just keeps escalating on the power scale so I wonder what is going to happen when we get to the end. Maybe Gridman will show up too? Now THAT would be awesome!

So far SSSS. Gridman still isn’t required viewing but something tells me that might change soon. The release schedule for this show is a bit out of wack at the moment. Feels like it’s been like a month since we last had a new episode and that’s a shame. This show is a lot of fun and you’re missing out if you’re not watching. Hopefully, the episodes come out more frequently now and soon you can just binge it all!
