English Dub Review: So I’m a Spider, So What? “Monkey, Wha—?”
Overview
The Spider-Lady has managed to escape the threat of the Earth Dragon, and while she’s a little frustrated about being forced to run, she decides to continue her journey. But in the Great Elroe Labyrinth, monsters prey on each other where only the strongest survive! And that means a new threat is already around the corner…
Our Take
This was quite a hectic episode. The Spider Lady is now in “Darwin’s World” which is survival of the fittest in a nutshell. And unlike past episodes where it would often split or focus on the human-characters, we barely care about, the story within this episode makes the Spider-Lady the essential focus and I was happy with it.
As the title implies it’s a small army of relentlessly pissed-off monkeys. Lots of zipping around with her webs which looked awesome. The CG looked great with that many moving parts its kinda necessary to have CG so the scene can do lots of those wide shots. Personally, I thought it looked good. Spider-Lady herself being a mix of 2D and CG between the different shots and the monkey creatures being all CG since there were so damn many.
This was both an intense and amusing episode to see the Spider-Lady going out of her way to survive in any way possible by using every ability a spider can use in that world. She’s literally is living through the “Kill or be Killed” life, and even manages to regenerate more than a few times through leveling up which made some of the injuries she sort-of recovers from a bit underwhelming to be sheer plot convenience. And the post-credits scene knew how to leave me hooked. Hopefully, the two separate storylines will progressively converge and lead somewhere meaningful as the plot progresses.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
