English Dub Review: Rent-a-Girlfriend “Night and Girlfriend”

Overview:

Kazuya has barely dealt with the aftermath of Mami’s visit when he gets another aggressive visitor!

Our Take:

I never thought I would see an anime use the term “post-nut clarity” in all my years of life. But Kazuya is a special kind of cringelord so that is what we get. This is the type of romcom/harem anime that I HATE because the only reason there is no progress is that the characters aren’t honest and refuse to have conversations. Like Ruka can be annoying but she shouldn’t have to put up with this asshat.

That’s the thing, if your main character is annoying and insufferable then you’re already starting from behind. Throw in practically zero growth and it’s maddeningly frustrating. Are we supposed to cheer for him that since he jerked off in the shower he didn’t have sex with Ruka? No dude, that’s just being a decent human being. It’s so bad it’s almost funny, but unfortunately, it’s not.
