English Dub Review: Orient “Greatsword of the Black Goddess”

Overview:

Yataro re-emerges, a greater threat than ever. With Michiru enslaved to his will, he may be unstoppable…

Our Take:

This was without a doubt the best episode so far and no I’m not just saying that because Michiru was back. Though I will admit that definitely did help and her character journey is a huge part of it for sure. But no the main reason this episode was so good is the stakes. This really does feel like everything is on the line with this fight. Michiru’s father has made the ultimate badass transformation, though turning your daughter into a sword is kind of a dick move.

What I really, really liked about this episode was how many Berserk vibes it gave me. From the way, the villain looked to the creepy sword that Michiru has become was all classic Berserk to me. This episode was over in a flash to me and that is some of the highest praise I can give for something like this. The only thing keeping this episode from perfection was some of the animations was just reused clips. It wouldn’t have been too bad but it was within just a couple of minutes of each other. All in all, I can’t wait for next week.
