English Dub Review: My Hero Academia “Clash! Class A vs. Class B!”

Overview:

Deku wakes up from his vestige dream and goes on a run. He tells All Might what happened and they bump into Aizawa who is leaving his office with Shinso. There is going to be a mock battle between Class 1-A and Class 1-B, with Shinso thrown in as a wild card.

Our Take:

This episode starts at a little bit of an odd place, I had to make sure I was on the right episode. It starts just a little bit before the last one ended but don’t worry it gets right into it. I know there are a lot of mentors in anime and they hold a special place in all our hearts but All Might and Deku are just amazing together. I love how their relationship has evolved as the series has gone on.

Speaking of All Might, we got a glimpse of a young All Might in the Two Heroes movie but in my opinion, he needs a spin-off series. I think it would be really cool to see that. I imagine if they do it won’t be till after the main series is finished because of spoilers or something but I think we can all agree that would be awesome.

In my feature on  My Hero Academia quirks (which you can read here) I ranked Shinso pretty high. That was before I knew exactly how his new-look benefitted him so I might even rank him higher now. His mask doesn’t just look cool but it also allows him to change his voice to sound like others. Pretty much getting rid of his weakness because why wouldn’t you answer an ally when they speak to you? It does also seem like he has Aizawa in his corner which is going to be pretty awesome.

Shinso is going to participate in two mock battles, one with Class 1-A and one with Class 1-B. He is participating with A in the first one and it ends right when he showcases his mask ability, which was a bummer but excited for next week. He will participate with 1-B in their match with Deku because… of course, he will. With the way, this show sometimes does pacing however it might be a while but that’s just fine. Show off some other characters for a change.

We didn’t get too much change or anything from anyone in this episode which is to be expected. Everyone showing off their new winter costumes was awesome, especially Bakugo’s. I am really excited to see everyone’s growth in this arc, and finally, Deku might be able to show off in training without hurting himself. This season is off to a hot start.
