English Dub Review: Mix “I Wanted to See That Expression”

Overview (Spoilers Below)

After a two-run bottom of the eighth, Meisei high school beats the team once thought to win the championship Kenjo high school. This win sends ripple effects all over the place including at the Akai household, the Tachibana high school, and of course other rival teams who are getting wind of the news. To quote T.A.P.S…on to the next.

Our Take

After three episodes we get a conclusion to a game that probably shouldn’t be all that surprising given that this is a series expected to last at least two cours. In any event, a few arcs are launched as a result. Ryo Akai’s possible inclusion into Meisei is hinted, a possible clash with Seinan High School, and Takumi’s unhealthy fascination with Otomi were all presented in a rather quick fashion given the amount of time it took for the game to be over with.

Even with expecting the conclusion, I really enjoyed the dramatic flair that Mix provides in building up the severity of certain batting/pitching situations. While it’s unlikely in real baseball that To would last an entire game the way he did and still be expected to pitch the next game, we still get an entertaining afternoon at the ball game.
