English Dub Review: Lucifer and the Biscuit Hammer “Yukimachi and Subaru”
Overview
Subaru and Yukimachi recall their wish and their meeting with their Beast Squires while Taiyou grows closer to the eleventh golem, Maimakterion.
Our Take
This time around we have a nice slice-of-life episode. Sure there were a couple of fights against that golem that can multiply but this episode mostly focused on the characters. Specifically, as the title implies, we get lots of screentime with Yuki and Subaru. The dynamic girl’s duo who can make that unstoppable spear attack and who was trained by Akitani as we saw in his episode.
Yuki and Subaru both using their respective wishes while subtle was easily a wholesome moment, and further emphasizes that these two are best friends. It makes me worry one might die later. But anyways it was nice seeing them interact with Mikazuki, Yuuhi, and Taiyo the owl Knight/implied traitor. It’s easy to assume that Taiyo didn’t have the best family upbringing while also being the person who is chaperoning the golem who can shapeshift that we saw in the last episode and having such a defeatist attitude could cause such disillusionment. But there’s potential for characters such as Yuuhi, Mikazuki, and everyone to show Taiyo the good sides of life.
Overall, a passable episode. The animation wasn’t too bad, but that might just be because there wasn’t as much action. There were even some scenes, in the mountains, where the characters looked pretty fanciful. Other than that though, this episode seemed a bit all over the place. As if the various stories from start to finish were kind of mish-mashed together. At the very least, the “betrayal twist” does make the plot a bit more interesting if nothing else…
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
