English Dub Review: Life Lessons with Uramichi Oniisan “Young People These Days”

Overview:

The cast members of Together with Maman come to know two new employees of the company. Derekida asks Uramichi to bring these two, who usually don’t attend company gatherings, to a year-end party.

Our Take:

Okay, this episode was full of so much awesomeness I don’t even know where to start. I guess I’ll start with the good and build up to the great. Uramichi had a conversation with a child about Santa and Iketeru happened to overhear. You see Uramichi said that “his” Santa wasn’t great and always gave him weights and gym equipment. I fully expected Iketeru to just feel sorry for Uramichi but this guy walks up and says “Mine too! You think we had the same crappy Santa?”. Let me tell you the look on Uramichi’s face when he realized that Iketeru still believes in Santa Claus was pure gold.

The absolute best part of the episode was the two new employees that got introduced. First, we have Saito Uebu, and most of us can probably relate to him. I have heard he might be voiced by Stephen Fu but I will try to confirm that more first. Uebu is into all things 2D, refusing to talk to 3D girls at the party. His love for anime is second to none which I think we all get. Right?…

Then there is Hanbee Kikaku from the merchandising department. He will give you whiplash with all the mood swings, going from really kind to blowing up in a matter of moments. He is most definitely voiced by Johnny Yong Bosch, I haven’t seen anything confirming it but trust me that is his voice without a doubt. Which probably added to how much I loved the character. Kikaku is seriously hilarious and the way he interacts with Uebu is fantastic. I wish they weren’t introduced so late in the show cause they are fantastic and I just want more. I never thought someone could out-Uramichi, Uramichi but Kikaku somehow manages to even make Uramichi uncomfortable.

This was without a doubt the best episode. The relatability was at an all-time high in this one. From the frustration, at work, you are having a hard time completing on time, to holiday parties that you just don’t want to go to but “have” to. The show hasn’t been bad by any means but if it can continue on this track it’s going to be a must-watch for comedy fans.
