English Dub Review: Lastman “Could You Pass Me The Mustard?”

Maybe a bit too much mustard on this one.

Overall (Spoilers Below)

Richard and Duke are climbing the fight rankings, but a dangerous Ren heads to the stadium during a matchup and Siri “feels” his presence and alerts Howard who arrives for a fight that quickly fades to black for resolution.

Don’t worry, I haven’t let Richard off the hook. Turns out, he’s been fucking around with his fight coach and Katana has been made aware and the press thinks he’s a pedo.

Our Take

This week’s episode, plot-wise, was an advancement, but it left a bunch of questions about what happened last week and whether or not we’ll ever get a resolution to what went down at the mall. This is also, really, the first episode that kind of handed us the, “ok, Richard and Katana are official now”, and I’m not sure if we got a proper payout in terms of a true investment in the relationship, so when Katana caught Aldana with his coach, there was really nothing in me that cared because we didn’t focus THAT MUCH on a relationship between the two. So, who cares if Richard messes around?  I did enjoy the final scene, but we’re not gonna be able to see the rest of it until next time which, hopefully, is a good thing and comes to fruition.

Unfortunately, one of the messier episodes of the season in that the arcs preceding weren’t properly put in place, which could be more of a slight against the source material rather than the adaptation, but it’s a potentially glaring hole that hopefully, we don’t spend too much time trying to heal, and instead focus on the more important overall plot at hand as we stare down the final three episodes.
