English Dub Review: Laid-Back Camp “A Night of Navigator Nadeshiko and Hot Spring Steam”

Overview

Nadeshiko plans to go camping with Rin, but catches a cold the night before and has to stay at home. As such, Rin decides to go on her own to a campsite at Ina, and attempts to take a detour to get there, but finds out that the road is closed. After meeting some mountain climbers, she lets Nadeshiko and Chiaki decide where she goes next…

Our Take

Despite this being a minor blunder, Rin should’ve done more research for her route. Though it was nice that her misfortune allowed her to encounter some friendly climbers. Given the sometimes careless nature of Nadeshiko, catching a cold was supposed to happen at some point, and quite obvious. Though Chiaki coming to visit her joined and well.

On the subject, Chiaki/Aki manages to pull off some gourmet Houtou. It was funny how additional family members progressively showed up, and that threatening moment between Sakura and Chiaki ended up with praise for Aki’s cooking skills. Though not here in person, Nadeshiko and Aki sure had fun directing Rin in her journey through text messages even if the Dub has to translate them for us due to many of them being in Kanji.

Overall, this was an ok episode for being slightly less Rin-focused than usual. Nadeshiko’s family though sure were unique, though Aki’s cooking session was pretty good. It was smart how they incorporated a local legend into the story. Aki ended up making lunch for the whole family. But man that weird-ass vision that Rin had was quite funny. Another excellent and relaxing episode as always.
