English Dub Review: Kuma Kuma Kuma Bear “Bear, Guiding the Young Girl”

Overview:

Yuna’s life isn’t all about adventuring! Yuna prepares for Anz and her crew’s arrival in Crimonia, but there is still much to do. She discovers that a girl name Sherry has a fantastic talent, but that talent has put the little girl into a dilemma.

Our Take:

This was a cute episode, we don’t always need it to be a big adventure. Sometimes the everyday life stuff is just as enjoyable. There is a reason that “Slice of Life” is a really popular anime genre. Yuna is an interesting character but this episode focused more on a character named Sherry who lives at an orphanage. She was recruited to help make the aprons for Yuna’s new shop and she discovered that she is a fantastic seamstress. Her dilemma is that she is good enough to become an apprentice but that would mean she would have less time for chores at the orphanage.

Luckily this went the heartwarming route where Sherry confesses to her friends that she would like to take this apprenticeship but that she doesn’t think it would be fair to them. Hilariously, they tell her that “We just do what we want without asking so you should too!”. Sherry was a nice sweet character and I hope we get to see more of her and others in more slice-of-life episodes.
