English Dub Review: Jujutsu Kaisen: “Assault”
Overview:
Satoru Gojo (Kaji Tang) dukes it out with a mysterious cursed spirit and all the while demonstrates to Itadori (Adam McArthur) what a real jujutsu sorcerer match looks like.
Our Take: “Assault”, without a shadow of a doubt, lives up to the name as it delivers an assault on all the senses thanks to a mind-blowing showdown between sweetheart sorcerer, Gojo, and the special grade cursed spirit, Jogo. Much like Keanu Reeves and this episode, breathtaking only just begins to describe it. Besides a stupendous fight, Gojo’s powers are finally revealed. The law defying nature of his abilities are very much in line with the man himself that I could not wish for anything more, nor does he deserve any less. What begins as a close quarters beatdown with a gorgeous lightshow of colors from not only Gojo’s mesmerizing infinity ability but Jogo’s bursting volcanoes and blistering explosions only grows more intense. From there they take to the trees. But make no mistake, it continues to be Gojo’s territory. Hunting his prey like the predator he is, exhilaration abounds as Gojo is around every corner before Jogo even thinks to turn around it. Lightning fast blows thunder their way on to the screen with great brilliance.
Finally, there is the piece de resistance that is Satoru Gojo’s domain expansion, Infinite Void. But before getting to that, I would be remiss if not to take a moment to appreciate the great character acting that is present throughout this episode as well. While all the amazing flashy visuals are great, they would not be anything without an amazing leading man behind them. And Kaji Tang is just that man. He perfectly captures his laid back, kittenish spirit that makes him so damn lovable. But he also has the resolution to back up his confident side too. Can’t wait to see how he furthers the role moving forward. Getting back to his domain expansion…yeah it’s insane. The fight sequences were stunning enough on their own. But this beautiful acid trip of overwhelming streaks of light, water, mirrored trees culminates in a dangerously calm black hole that left me absolutely speechless at how unfathomable his power truly is. The abstract nature of it all makes one wonder what the true extent and versatility of his power is. As the episode comes to a close, the stitched cursed spirit, Mahito, makes his debut. He will be a most promising villain for the series in the coming episodes and will have a profound effect in ways one may not expect. But for now, the perfection that is “Assault” serves as the perfect finale to an already spectacular brawl and episode overall.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
