English Dub Review: Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure Golden Wind:”Green Tea and Sanctuary, Part 3″

With Cioccolata now dead, the focus has now shifted to the battle between Bruno and Secco as Bruno is forced to retreat but is caught up. The two then discover that by observing the crowd with the sounds of ambulances that Cioccolata is dead and Secco gets one a final voice message which also informs him that Bruno’s crew intends to meet someone in the Colosseum who has a plan to beat the boss. But Secco surprisingly takes it well as he disavows him and speaks intelligently, and reveals that his desires for being part of the mad surgeon’s life were more materialistic than anything sentimental or romantic.

Because of his Stand’s superior speed, Secco severely injures Bruno, who decides to flee by using Zipper-Man to escape underground towards the Colosseum, but Secco tracks him using his highly sensitive hearing. Secco forces Bruno out of the ground in creative but disturbing use of his Stand powers that heavily relies on the distance of how far his Stand can reach, but as the fight happens, We audience also finally find out who The mysterious wheelchair-bound ally is this whole time and it’s a familiar face to longtime Jojo fans who just so happens to have one of the Stand arrows and vows to protect it at all costs until they get here.

Of course, Bruno knowing that he’s sort of a walking corpse as a side-effect of a past incident involving Giorno’s stand powers then proceeds to use the resilience of his body to his advantage and bursts a nearby car tire in which the loud popping sound results the bursting of Secco’s eardrums while Bruno is beyond caring about Secco’s condition. As Bruno Resurfaces and confronts the murderous jerk, Secco incidentally meets Doppio and takes him hostage but as Bruno takes Secco out in an act of Karmic irony, The episode ends when things take a very unexpected direction…

Our Take

While the biggest reveal of who the person Bruno’s crew are attempting to meet up with at the Colosseum was a twist I saw coming a mile away in terms of fanservice, It still made me smile even if I was left with a few questions. As a villain, Secco played with my expectations as he turned into a massive prick the moment he realized Cioccolata was dead and his playful pet-like attitude was simply an act. But at least, Bruno despite how much of a disadvantage he seemingly was in, took control of the situation and whooped some ass. I also had a good laugh with how Cioccolata was able to record two voicemail messages for Secco during his fight and near his death, it’s so stupid but you can’t help but laugh at its absurdity.

This fight, especially at the ending, reminded me about why Bruno is one of the best things about Jojo’s “Golden Wind” storyline. Giorno may be the focus of the plot, and this story certainly couldn’t happen without him (Polpo wouldn’t be killed, Bruno wouldn’t survive Emperor Crimson, etc). But Bruno is arguably the heart, he’s the main force who directly and indirectly brought everyone together, so it was quite suspenseful and troubling to see him in such an overwhelming scenario, especially the big cliffhanger at the end.

Overall this was a good episode, but I can’t wait for the next one to see where it goes next!
