English Dub Review: Dragon Ball Super “Will He Strike Back? The Unseen Killing Technique “
KILL! KILL! KILL!
Overview (Possible Spoilers Below)
Just when you think things seem decidedly bleak for Goku after his brief battle from Hit that ended with an instant death, It turns out that a blast Goku previously shot out from his hand into the sky begins to fall back down reviving his ass. Goku knew what he was doing after all and just needed a huge jolt of energy in order to recover. The writers usually show Goku being simple-minded, yet excels in terms of battle strategy when it comes to martial arts and fighting. Afterward, Goku demands Hit to fight him again. After all, the job isn’t really over since he’s not dead. But Goku wants no interruptions so both Goku’s sons and Piccolo leave him to fight Hit alone. When Hit does return, he proceeds to use an “invisible attack” which is like a punch that can go past objects. Goku feels he knows how to avoid the attack. Hit also has another technique where he can confuse Goku by transporting his energy level to different locations.
Despite the severity of the situation, Goku doesn’t seem scared about it, but that’s to be expected from an alien martial artist who has a proverbial hard-on for combat. We do devote most of the episode to the other characters such as Vegeta demanding answers from Whis and even goes as far as to promise him and Beerus a “Steak dribbled with Granny’s Secret Sauce” while at the same time, Champa and Vados come to see the fight. Later on, as the battle further intensifies, Champa & Vados are joined by Vegeta, Beerus, and Whis. Vados explains how Hit is able to use his secret technique, which makes him seemingly untouchable.
Goku finally decides to go all out and fires his Kamehameha attack, which proves to be powerful enough to knock out both of them. Afterward, Goku finally reveals to the people within this particular circle that the entire time since the previous episode, Goku was able to hire Hit and placed a bounty on himself with the joint-efforts of Whis and his sister Vados, just so he could fight Hit at full strength. After Hit flies off hoping to battle Goku again, a worried Chi Chi shows up leading a comedic scene where Goku whispers to Vegeta not to tell anyone that it was his own fault that Hit tried to kill him. The episode ends on a hilarious note when Whis and Beerus demand to try the steak with “Granny’s Secret Sauce” that Vegeta promised them earlier, but Vegeta attempts to come up with a solution in his head on how to get himself out of this one.
Our Take
Damn, that was both funny and intense! It also helps that a story like this could only work in the world Dragon Ball too since many characters have a track record of coming back from the dead multiple times in some form or another. I was a little disappointed this filler-arc only lasted 2 episodes, but at least it makes sense to why, or that Nobody would have guessed what Goku’s Grand scheme was the whole time, but with the way Hit left, I was hilariously reminded of that “I’ll most likely kill you in the morning” line from The Princess Bride.
Overall, episode 72 of DB Super was really unique among the various filler episodes, as It also worked in terms of character progression for Goku, while properly balancing humor, tension, and intense action.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
