English Dub Review: Call of the Night “4th Night: Isn’t This a Tight Squeeze?”

Overview:

Three’s a crowd when Ko invites Akira to hang out with him and Nazuna late one evening.

Our Take:

First things first, we need to talk about Creepy Nuts. Creepy Nuts is the band that has so far handled the opening, ending, and insert songs for Call of the Night. Weird band name I know but let me tell you their songs are ridiculously catchy. The main three I’ve heard are “Daten”, “Losstime”, and “Yofukashino Uta”. The last is not only the ending song but also the Japanese title of the show and is by far the most catchy. I have been listening to it on repeat for weeks.

This episode had some fun misunderstandings but luckily they didn’t last long. Ko thought since he and Nazuna kissed that now he might perhaps be in love with her. As he soon learned that wasn’t the case because he failed to turn into a vampire after she sucked his blood.

I absolutely adore the characters in this. Nazuna is a delight with how she can be so foul-mouthed and pervy one second then be super shy and bashful when the topic of love comes up. Ko’s childhood friend Akira has been really cool so far as well. She’s just really supportive of Ko and hopes they can remain, friends, once he becomes a vampire. We could all use a friend like Akira.
