English Dub Review: By the Grace of the Gods “Eliaria and the New Friends”

Overview

Life at the academy turns out to be very boring for Eliaria. Fortunately, with a little help from Ryoma, she meets some classmates who might be able to become friends with her.

Our Take

This time around, we now have an Eliara-focused episode as we see what her life is like at the academy. I thought this was just going to be a glimpse of Elia’s life there. It seems a bit bland at first, but it’s a good change of pace since most of the episodes that seemed so devoted to Ryoma that we almost forget he has a love interest with the way Season 1 ended.

Aside from Miyabi, she also finds herself a few new friends such as Michelle, Riela, and Kanan who all make a solid team and she’s showing her classmates she’s kind and capable in her own right.

Overall, I honestly didn’t expect the entire episode to be focused on her, but it was a nice touch that Miyabi finally relayed the message from Ryouma to her which I thought was cute. I was wondering when the half-Kitsune lady was going to meet up, but I’m glad all this positivity will comfort Ryoma and give him peace of mind that even outside of her family, she’s now in the company of kind supportive people.
