English Dub Review: Bottom-Tier Character Tomozaki “Once you start speedrunning the minigames, you seriously can’t stop”
Overview
Hinami pauses her counseling sessions for the student council election and suggests that Fumiya become Mimimi’s campaign manager. Mimimi initially refuses his offer until he points out some key mistakes in her campaign. Fumiya explains his motivation in that he sees Hinami as a video game boss that he wants to defeat…
Our Take
I really enjoyed this episode, Fumiya Tomozaki in terms of character development has truly shined since episode one. Every episode I’m seeing more and more growth and progression out of Fumiya which is great too. The video game analogies in this series work really well with the concept of social development/interaction. Of course, his weirdness and somewhat awkward stance are still there, but the determination for him and Mimi to beat out their opponent is so strong that they managed to pull each other together.
While the role of campaign manager will be a tough one i think it will be a good opportunity for Fumiya. The insight into Minami’s motivations though was pretty interesting. She’s intelligent, but her issue hits pretty deep where she’s a perpetual sufferer of 2nd place syndrome. It’s a shame that try as she might not catch up to Aoi. Though the desire of overcoming her inferiority complex is still something that’s worthy of accomplishing.
This episode was okay overall, and it was a sight to behold as Fumiya has now reached the point that he can actively help out the ones that needed him the most. While I do find it strange that he now sees Aoi as a “boss” worth beating rather than a life coach, I do hope this show continues to gradually improve over the next few weeks.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
