English Dub Review: Attack on Titan “Thaw”

Overview:

With no walls left on the island and Shiganshina full of Titans, the Scouts must battle their former comrades. In the midst of it all, Gabi is determined to find and rescue Falco at whatever cost.

Our Take:

This episode was the weakest so far but a weak Attack on Titan episode is still better than a lot of other shows. I think the main problem is that I have become so used to gigantic revelations that when there aren’t any it feels like the episode let me down somehow. That is far from the case, this was still a great episode and gave some of the smaller characters to shine.

I know a lot of people hate Jean but seeing how well he has come into his own was really awesome. I imagine we would all agree that Marco would be proud of how Jean turned out and seeing that he was right about his leadership skills. But not all growth is positive. Connie wanting to feed Falco to his mom is completely understandable. I can’t really blame the guy for wanting his mom back. I don’t know if I could essentially kill an innocent child to do it but I get it. That is what makes this show great is how nuanced and realistic the characters are. I guess we’ll see if he succeeds next week.
