English Dub Review: Actors: Songs Connection “Agitato”

Assault cases begin to occur near the Tensho School, where many cats gather with one being randomly injured in the process. Members of the singing club form a neighborhood-watch type club of sorts called the “Kitty protection patrol” to find the culprit. In a separate subplot, Ryo Saotome Who Loves Cats learns to connect with people on a respectful level instead of coming across as intimidating all the time and at one point ends up being arrested due to the only clue of the abuser being that he wore a grey hoodie but comes to the conclusion that the animal abusing culprit not only had ulterior motives but an established history with Ryo…

Our Take

Something that the cats mention between themselves earlier left me scratching my head but is everyone in a VR game or something? There’s a bizarre twist involving a black cat, but after the big reveal of said twist, When they mentioned the plug-in and outright said that communicating with the “actors” is “punishable by account banning” I had a feeling it was going to happen as Chekhov’s gun of sorts. When the culprit is later caught, the motive behind the attack against the cats was incredibly underwhelming. The animal abuse is thankfully downplayed and nowhere as cruel or over the top compared to whenever Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure wants to emphasize how evil their villains are. Granted, it is nice to see Satsuma helping Ryo despite their disagreements.

Overall, another filler episode but this time it’s about cats. It was mildly entertaining but still nothing to do with musical stuff whatsoever as the show was aiming for yet somehow it took quite a semi-serious direction. I kept expecting Satoru to have a bigger role, but I knew he wouldn’t hurt cats. He may be a delinquent, but he seems like a good person at heart.
