‘Derek Jeter Top 10 Career Highlights’ in LEGOS!
If you’re a Yankees fan, a baseball fan, or just a semi-aware member of society, you’ve undoubtedly seen a plethora of video clips showcasing Derek Jeter’s most famous moments as his 20-year career comes to a close this weekend. But here’s a way you probably haven’t seen those plays: in LEGOs.
Actually, they’re OYO Sports minifigures, a toy similar to LEGO, but with more detail, movability, and a sports-centric focus. OYO has impressively detailed the top 10 moments of Jeter’s career using only the figures, including everything from “The Flip” against Oakland in the 2001 ALDS, to Jeter memorably catching a foul ball while flying into the stands.
The amount of detail in this video is astounding, as every scene involves a representation of players on both sides, as well as the stadium, crowd, and everybody else that was present for each event. They also included some great subtleties, like showing Tampa Bay Rays first-baseman Casey Kotchman tipping his cap to Jeet after his 3,000th hit, and Tony Tarasco of the Orioles arguing with the umpire after little Jeffrey Maier robbed a homer in Derek’s favor during the 1996 ALCS. (Though it’s hard to use toys to accurately display the O’s outfielder’s furious emotions after the injustice was committed.)
In the end, I want to mention that although almost everyone has passionate opinions about the iconic Yankee shortstop & his career (I love the guy, but there are plenty of arguments why he’s not the best player ever, best Yankee ever, best shortstop ever…blah, blah, blah) there’s no doubt that Derek Jeter is a first-ballot Hall of Famer, and one of the classiest guys to ever put on a baseball uniform. He brought consistent dignity to the pinstripes (and road greys) whenever he donned them, regardless of the actions of others around him; amassed more hits, doubles, and stolen bases than any other Yankee in franchise history; and acted as a role model and hero to kids and adults alike – all while constantly giving back to his teammates, his community, and his legions of fans around the world.
Thank you, Derek.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
