DC Entertainment Rebooting The Flintstones and other Hanna-Barbera for older audiences

I say it all the time, The Flintstones were never really a kids show when it first aired decades ago. The show premiered in prime time and sold cigarette ads all the time, how the hell is that a kids show?

Welp, DC Entertainment knows this and now the home of such legendary fare as Batman, Superman, and others is trying to reinvigorate the Hanna-Barbera properties to that of current and more adult-faring content. Already announced are Scooby Apocalypse, Future Quest, Wacky Raceland and The Flintstones and Entertainment Weekly has a first-look at all of them here.

At first I was a bit annoyed by this, but then I thought, “These could be cool animated movie ideas” and then I saw the character models for The Flintstones reboot and immediately regretted my thought process. Gone are the lovable looks Fred Flintstone and Barney Rubble and in are more cave men-esque caricatures with Betty Rubble looking nothing like Rosie O’Donnell’s fat ass from The Flintstones movie.
