Comics Review: Regular Show #1
Spoilers Below
So, there’s a folk concert going on at the park. Everyone, including Mordecai, Rigby, and the guests all think the concert is boring. Enter Muscle Man. After Mordecai jokingly says that there should be a mosh pit, Muscle Man takes that as a challenge, then runs into the crowd with High-Five Ghost. After a brief “Mosh Etiquette Rules,” lesson, the pit begins.
As more people get involved, the crowd gets into a bigger fervor. Right about here is where all hell breaks loose. Someone gets thrown into one of the performers, and it turns him into a heavy metal god! Benson storms over to Mordecai and Rigby, about to blame them for what’s going on. So, they point the finger at Muscle Man. This pushes the stage into a black hole because of a dark power.
This dark power was brought upon the park, because of Muscle Man starting a pit where a pit shouldn’t have been started. So, the plan is hatched to save the park, and the people of the concert!
“Thrill Baby”
I guess it’s an occupational hazard with the b-plots of these comics. Last week’s Bravest Warriors b-plot was amazingly funny. This one, is a pretty solid second best.
“Thrill Baby” is only about one thing: Rigby’s fear and frustration about getting a crap picture of himself taken while on the Face Melter. Mordecai and Skips rig up Rigby’s face with a a contraption made out of stuff in Skips’s pocket. What ends up happening is that all 3 of them have the worst picture ever. It’s a great little story.
All in all, this was a wonderful first issue. Granted, this comic plays at a lot of personal heartstrings. However, the plot is something you can really see as an episode of the show. That’s what matters.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
