Steven and Connie want to see “The Unfamiliar Familiar” but it is rated PG-13 and they are not old enough to get in alone. They transform into Stevonnie in order to get in but Stevonnie doesn’t have a valid ID so she can’t get in either. As they are figuring out what to do, Kiki literally runs into Stevonnie. Kiki admits that she is supposed to be shopping for a prom dress. Stevonnie’s eyes light up and the two go shopping for clothes together. They have a wonderful time and Kiki invites Stevonnie to the dance. Since Connie can’t be out alone after dark, Pearl escorts Kiki and Stevonnie on their date.

At the dance, things get awkward. First, Kiki’s friends invite her to dance with them but not Stevonnie. When Kiki finally invites Stevonnie to the dance floor, a slow song comes on. That is when things get really awkward. Kiki tries to invite Stevonnie out again but both Steven and Connie freak out. Thankfully, they get to the bathroom before they defuse. The two kids discuss how they should handle the situation before deciding to just tell Kiki that Stevonnie just wants to be friends. That is quite alright with Kiki.

There were a couple of interesting points brought up in this issue. How old is Stevonnie? How do they handle relationships with other people? Do they just tell everyone that they are two kids fused together with alien magic? While these issues weren’t completely resolved, Steven and Connie were able to reach a good solution to their current problem. Instead of telling Kiki about Stevonnie’s secrets, they would just admit that they only want to be friends. If only all identity problems could be solved as easily.
