Adult Swim Producer Appears To Be Working On New Horror-Themed Animated Series
What is it?
Trap Universe and King Star King producer JJ Villard is teasing the reveal of a new upcoming animated series that will feature a litany of horror movie icons as part of the show’s cast. The likes of Heather Langenkamp (Nightmare on Elm Street), Sheryl Lee (Twin Peaks), Catherine Hicks (Child’s Play), Corey Feldman (The Lost Boys), Peter Weller(Robocop), David Patrick Kelly (The Warriors), John Kassir (Tales from the Crypt),Maika Monroe(It Follows), Linda Blair (The Exorcist), Elvira, Edwin Neal (Texas Chainsaw Massacre), Keith David (They Live), Doug Bradley and Ashley Laurence(Hellraiser), Jennifer Tilly(Family Guy), Kevin Van Hentenryck (Basket Case), Allen Oppenheimer (He-Man), and Warwick Davis (Leprechaun) have all lent their voices in what looks to be at LEAST a new pilot if not a full series. Here’s what we think is going on:
Our Take
Adult Swim sounds like it will be launching another round of Adult Swim Pilots, the yearly tradition where Adult Swim introduces pilot episodes of new franchises like Hot Streets, The Shivering Truth, and Tigtone before being picked up for additional episodes/seasons so as to get feedback from their ardent fan base before premiere. This is all conjecture at this point, and it could be that this Villard-produced effort may not be for Adult Swim at all, but with streaming services like Hulu and Netflix snapping up known Adult Swim producers like Justin Roiland, Stoopid Buddy Stoodios, and most recently Dave Willis for other projects, I can’t see Adult Swim NOT wanting to stay in the JJ Villard business.
As for the Adult Swim Pilots season, we’ve heard that Lazor Wulf and OMG! Earth! could also be part of the pilots lineup. Adult Swim had teased the premiere of Lazor Wulf to happen in 2018 but never got around to premiering the series other than at the Adult Swim Presents events.
A new season of Hot Streets premieres this Sunday Night on Adult Swim, here’s a new promo.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
